The US government has a lot of bands, and most of them record and distribute free CD's. The Army has bands. The Navy has bands. The Air Force has bands. The Marines have bands. Even the Coast Guard has a band. Each of the main branches has a main band, stationed in or near Washington D.C. These bands record on a regular basis, and have since the days of John Phillip Sousa. Many of the other service bands also record. They provide these recordings free of charge to Schools and Libraries on request, based on availability. These recordings are not for sale.
All you do is write a letter requesting the service band CD's on school stationary/letterhead, have it signed by you (director) and your principal and in a couple of months you should receive a set of CD's. After you send your letter you will automatically receive the latest CD released by which ever service band(s) you requested CD's from.

I have looked for free military choral & orchestral cd's and have not come across any yet. If anyone knows of any free "for educational purposes only" CD's please let me know.
